Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup dry white wine
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper or to taste
  • 0.125 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1.5 pounds large shrimp shelled and deveined, tails on or off
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Melt the butter with olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 20 seconds, stirring frequently.
  2. Whisk in the white wine, and season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 2 minutes, or until the liquid is reduced by half.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque on all sides.
  4. Stir in the chopped fresh parsley and fresh lemon juice. Cook for an additional 30 seconds. Remove from heat. Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.
  5. Serve the shrimp scampi immediately over your favorite pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

Notes

This Shrimp Scampi is best enjoyed fresh. You can also add a pinch of chili flakes for a little heat.
