Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick and encourages a nicer sear.
- In a small bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder (if using).
- Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken, then sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over all sides of the chicken. Rub the seasoning gently to ensure it's well coated.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) when checked with a meat thermometer. Cooking time may vary based on the thickness of the chicken breasts.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in more tender and flavorful chicken.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can marinate the chicken in olive oil and seasonings for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator) before baking. Serve with roasted vegetables, a side salad, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
