  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
