  • 1.5 lb ground beef
  • 1 count onion chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp pepper
  • 1.75 cups tomato sauce
  • 1.75 cups water
  • 0.5 cup long grain rice uncooked
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • as needed sour cream for garnish

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Add ground beef, onion, garlic, salt and pepper to a skillet over medium high heat. Cook until beef is browned and onion is softened. Add tomato sauce and water. Stir in rice and bring to a boil. Turn down heat to low and cover. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Place ½ cabbage in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover with ½ rice mixture. Repeat layers. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Serve with sour cream.
